Mulholland, Brita

By

Brita Betty Mulholland, 91, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, in Taunton. Born on July 3, 1934, in Dedham, she lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to her family, her profession, and the many people whose lives she touched with her kindness and care.

Brita was the daughter of John and Benny Johnson and was raised in Dedham, where she later graduated from Dedham High School. She carried the values of hard work, compassion, and perseverance throughout her life, and those qualities were evident in everything she did. She continued her education at Massasoit Community College, where she studied nursing, and later earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from UMass. Her commitment to learning and to the nursing profession reflected the deep sense of purpose that guided her throughout her years.

For many years, Brita served as a registered nurse at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury and Brockton. She approached her work with dedication, patience, and a genuine concern for the well-being of others. As a nurse, she was known not only for her skill and professionalism, but also for the comfort and reassurance she brought to patients and families during difficult times. Her years of service in healthcare were a testament to her generous spirit and her desire to help others.

Brita was the beloved wife of the late George Mulholland. Together, they shared a life built on love, family, and mutual devotion. She was a devoted mother to Andrew Mulholland of Bridgewater, Karen Mulholland of Canton, and Sandra Souza of Assonet. Her children were a source of great pride and joy to her, and she cherished the role of mother throughout her life.

She was also a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her family will remember her for her warmth, her steady presence, and the love she gave so freely.

She was the sister of Kenneth Johnson, Leonard Johnson, Walter Johnson, Jackie Johnson and John Johnson. Family remained central to Brita’s life, and she treasured the bonds she shared with her siblings, children, and grandchildren.

Those who knew her best will remember her as a woman of grace and quiet strength, someone who met life’s challenges with dignity and who always placed the needs of others before her own.

Brita had lived previously in Canton and Stoughton before making Lakeville and North Fort Myers, Florida, her home for the past 20 years. She appreciated the communities in which she lived and the friendships she formed along the way.

Her life was enriched by the people around her, and she in turn enriched the lives of others through her kindness, her steady presence, and her thoughtful nature. She will be remembered with love and admiration by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Brita Betty Mulholland leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved. Her memory will be cherished always.
