Neponset River Regional Chamber recognizes local businesses
By Canton CitizenThe Neponset River Regional Chamber recently held its 132nd annual meeting at the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood. Awards were presented to four local businesses, including two from Canton, for their contributions to the region and the chamber.
The Small Business of the Year Award was presented to South Shore Staffing. The awarded recognizes an NRRC member business that demonstrates outstanding achievement in general management, employee relations, business growth, business innovation, and community and social responsibility.
South Shore Staffing is a boutique staffing agency based in Canton with more than 20 years of serving the region. The agency is led by President Lisa Corrigan, who has over 30 years’ experience in the staffing industry and took over the agency in 2021, continuing to build on the successful foundation laid by Ed and Linda McDaid. Corrigan is a strong believer in supporting local businesses and serves on the board of directors of the South Shore Chamber and NRRC.
The Businessperson of the Year Award went to Canton Realtor Julie Molloy. An integral part of the chamber and the local community, Molloy has served on the board of directors, Executive Committee and chaired the NRR board for two years. She currently leads the Membership Committee and is a staunch advocate for the chamber, always encouraging new members and urging the board of directors and others to “comment, like and share” the chamber’s social media posts.
As a local realtor, Molloy understands the importance of giving back to the community. For years she has organized a coat drive in support of “Coats for Kids,” and this year she collected more than 100 coats. Last year, she earned the Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation (SRES) and has spent time with her favorite local seniors at the Canton and Walpole councils on aging, helping them stay informed and avoid real estate scams.
“The chamber is honored to count such community-minded businesses and individuals among its members,” said Chamber President Tom O’Rourke. “Julie and Lisa are two shining examples of local business leaders understanding there’s more to running a business than just the bottom line.”
Established in 1894, the NRRC serves the needs of businesses in a 12-town region stretching from Route 128 to Route 495 southwest of Boston. For information on membership or doing business in the region, call 781-769-1126, email tom@nrrchamber.com, or visit nrrchamber.com.
