Summer Safety & Food Truck festivals coming to Canton area Aug. 9
By Canton CitizenSaturday, August 9 will be a busy day in the Canton area with two different family-friendly festivals scheduled for that afternoon.
Just over the Canton/Sharon border at Crescent Ridge Dairy, the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office and the Sharon Police Department are once again teaming up to host their popular Summer Safety Fest, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to attend.
The event will bring together local public safety agencies, community organizations, and Norfolk County residents for a day filled with interactive displays and K9 and safety demonstrations. Families can explore bouncy houses, take part in a Touch-A-Truck experience, where children can get up close with police vehicles, fire trucks, and other emergency vehicles, and enjoy free hamburgers and hot dogs. Delicious Crescent Ridge ice cream will also be available for purchase.
“This event is a great opportunity for people to meet the public safety professionals who serve their communities and to learn more about the resources available to them in a fun and relaxed setting,” said Norfolk Sheriff Patrick McDermott. “We are grateful for our partners at the Sharon Police and Fire departments.”
Also on that same Saturday at Bank of Canton headquarters on Turnpike Street, Food Truck Festivals of America (FTFA) will be serving up a variety of food and beverage options at the second annual Canton Food Truck & Craft Beverage Festival, which runs from 12-6 p.m. with exclusive early access (11 a.m.) for VIPs and those with a “Beverage Lovers” package.

Attendees can enjoy lobster tots from Cousins Maine Lobster and much more at the 2nd annual Canton Food Truck Festival.
The event will showcase 20 of the region’s top food trucks along with a flavorful selection of craft beverages from local and national brands. Organizers promise there will be “something to satisfy every craving” — from street tacos and BBQ to gourmet desserts and much more.
Attendees can also enjoy music, lawn games, a kids’ bubble zone, and a local artisan market.
General admission tickets are $5 per person in advance or $10 at the gate, with kids 10 and under admitted free. There are also a number of specialty packages available for purchase online, all of which come with early admission and unlimited bottled water while supplies last.
Since 2012, Food Truck Festivals of America has hosted over 300 festivals nationwide, celebrating the best in street food and craft beverages and “bringing communities together one bite (and sip) at a time.” For more information about the upcoming Canton festival or to order tickets, go to foodtruckfestivalsofamerica.com/canton-ma.
