One of MAC’s favorite Boston restaurants, the century-old “No Name Restaurant” (founded in 1917), on the South Boston Fish Pier, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, which provides for the liquidation of business property and the distribution of assets to creditors. The No Name now joins Jimmy’s Harborside, which closed in 2005, and Anthony’s Pier 4, which closed in 2013, as another classic restaurant closed down along a famous stretch of the Boston waterfront.

The No Name is the latest high-profile Boston restaurant to close this year. According to the Boston Globe, Doyle’s Café in Jamaica Plain shut its doors this past fall after 137 years. Durgin Park in Faneuil Hall closed early this past year, and L’Espalier, a high-end offering in the Back Bay, closed at the end of 2018. Also, after 54 years, the Top of the Hub restaurant on the 52nd floor of the Prudential Center will close on April 18, 2020.
