Boys’ tennis team sweeps doubleheader

The Canton High boys’ tennis team took a page from the Boston Red Sox’ book and decided to play two on Sunday. In a rare doubleheader, the Bulldogs bested both Oliver Ames and Dedham High School by a score of 3-2. The matches, originally scheduled for May 18 and 19, were rescheduled due to rain. The wins raised Canton’s record on the season to 7-7 and moved them one step closer to qualifying for the state tournament.

Freshman Viboosh Chandravekar once again led the charge, winning both of his first singles matches in straight sets. Alex Geyyer and Alex Garcia contributed with a big win at the second doubles slot in the “nightcap” at 3:30 p.m. The tandem exacted revenge on a pair from Dedham who had bested them earlier in the year.

Canton will look to continue their momentum and finish up the season strong at the Hockomock crossover match and at a home match versus Norwood this week.
