Update: The CHS baseball team went 1-1 this week versus Fairhaven and North Attleboro and now sit at 2-3 overall heading into Monday’s game against Milford.

The CHS varsity baseball team is now 1-2 after three games with the Bulldogs’ most impressive performance coming in a 12-0 win over Foxboro last week.

Kevin Powers drew the start against the Warriors and threw a complete-game shutout, striking out four and issuing one walk. Powers was also impactful at the plate with three hits and multiple RBIs. Mike McMahon chipped in with three hits and a stolen base, while Matt Casamento and Joe Peccia each had key hits in the win.

In the season opener against King Philip, Canton lost 8-1 as the Bulldog offense was limited to four hits, including two by Griffin Jerrier. The Bulldog bats were also quiet in an eventual 4-0 loss to Oliver Ames last Thursday. The game was close until a couple of errors led to a few insurance runs for the Tigers. Canton’s Sean Doyle pitched well, going five innings.

Canton was due to host Fairhaven on Tuesday and then travel to North Attleboro on Wednesday. The team will also visit Milford on April 25 and Stoughton on April 27 and will host Sharon on April 29.
