The CHS golf team continued its winning ways last week with victories over Foxboro at home (159-173) and King Philip at Wentworth Hills Country Club (163-166).

In the Foxboro win, senior Griffin Jerrier led the way with a match-low 39. while Jim Jenkins, Danny Powers, and newcomer Joey Vaughan were all right behind with a 40.

“[Vaughan] has been playing great golf, and it showed in his first ever match,” noted head coach Mike Barucci. “There is always pressure playing in a match, and Joey handled the pressure very well and shot the second-best score of the day.”

Against KP, junior Pat Duggan was the low scorer in the match with a 38, followed by Peccia (41), Jerrier (42), Powers (42), and Jack Goyetch (42).

“This was the first time these guys saw the course in a match, so it was even more impressive to go on the road, play an unfamiliar course and win,” said Barucci. “It is never easy to win an away match in such a strong league. I was very impressed with how we took on the challenge and didn’t let the distractions of playing an unfamiliar course affect us. We will have a lot of success if we can continue to perform like we did on Friday.”

The Bulldogs (4-1) were due to visit Hopedale Country Club on Monday to play Milford, another strong contender in the Davenport Division. The team will then play Stoughton on Thursday at Easton Country Club, followed by a key rematch with Sharon — the only team to have beaten Canton this season — on Tuesday, September 29, at Blue Hill Country Club.
