Reader offers praise to new selectmen

By

Dear Editor:

To say that Canton’s traffic management is a mess is an understatement. Try driving through downtown during rush hour; try getting out of Sherman Street onto Pleasant Street, etc., etc.

Who knows more about the problems with certain intersections than the folks living in those precincts?

These two new selectmen, Kevin Feeney and Mark Porter, know that and have suggested that we have a “blue-ribbon” traffic committee, made up of representatives from each of the town precincts. This committee would hear suggestions (e.g. do away with the rotary) but also study traffic impacts in all areas of town.

While our traffic nightmare is a wonderful idea for limiting town size (as war is for limiting population growth), I don’t believe we really need to encourage it. Just an ‘attaboy’ to those two new selectmen. I just hope your new power won’t corrupt you, as it tends to do for all us human beings.

Sincerely,

Alice Brown
