Substance abuse coalition announces renaming contest

By

The Canton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition is inviting students to rename the coalition with a shorter, “more catchy” name. The contest is open to students in grades 4-12, including students at Blue Hills Regional and St. John’s School. The winner will receive one iPad Air II or a $550 gift card to the Apple store for the value of an iPad.

All submissions must be submitted to Heather Sullivan at CHS via email at sullivanh@cantonma.org or in person by 2 p.m. on February 28.

The coalition is headed by Fire Chief Charlie Doody, Police Chief Ken Berkowitz, and School Superintendent Jeff Granatino. The new name should reflect the coalition’s mission, which is to reduce the use of drugs and alcohol in Canton with a focus on middle and high school students while also creating a culture of good decision making.

Although not required, a submission of a logo with the new name will be considered by the committee. The winning submission will be selected at the March coalition meeting and announced at a March School Committee meeting.
