Pleasant Street roundabout work gets underway

By

Preliminary work on the Pleasant-Bolivar Street roundabout will begin Friday with the major work beginning next week. DPW Superintendent Mike Trotta said the project should last five to six weeks, depending on the weather. He said current traffic flow should not be interrupted and he does not anticipate any detours. Work will be conducted Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In addition, Pleasant Street paving from Devoll Field to the Canton-Stoughton line will be completed on two Saturdays — September 27 and October 4 — with traffic limited to one lane.

Selectmen issue Westwood traffic advisory

Following a meeting late last week between Canton and Westwood officials on the University Station project, selectmen announced that the town of Westwood will continue making roadway improvements at the intersection of University Avenue and Dedham Street through December. The latest phase of roadwork will require the removal of existing pavement up to the Neponset River bridge in Canton.

The work began Sunday, September 21, and will continue through Friday, September 26. This section of roadway will be compacted gravel for approximately five weeks as related site and utility improvements are completed.

Construction work related to the intersection improvement project will not be allowed in the travel lanes of the roadway until 9 a.m. and not after 3:30 p.m. each day. This revised schedule is intended to minimize traffic impacts during rush hours. Residents are asked to avoid travel in this area whenever possible and should expect delays. The town of Westwood will post periodic updates on its website at www.townhall.westwood.ma.us.
