Bohane made the announcements at a “Pub Night” fundraiser held June 20 at the Turnpike Café. That fundraiser, along with a previously run event, netted $3,300 for the high school and middle school football programs.

Bohane also announced the 2014 team captains: Matt Brown, Brian Hagan, Dylan Winchell, Kevin Wing, and Anthony Ross.

Brown repeated as the Uliano Award winner for his work in bench press and power cleans. James Bourikas also won an award for a power clean at 250 pounds.

The weight room fitness program, open to all CHS athletes from February to the end of the spring, was attended regularly by 35 athletes, and mostly football players. The weekly program included three days of weight training and one day of running. Bohane praised the work and improvement of Ross, Sterlin Garvin, Jarahn Reynolds, Liam Phelan, Brian Smith, and Yanni Papadopoulos. A full weightlifting test will be conducted during the first week of practice.

Bohane also announced the football schedule until October 24. Following that date the MIAA (Mass. Interscholastic Athletic Association) will announce a playoff schedule for eligible teams or assign two games against teams with similar records in the division.

The Bulldogs will open the season with two nonleague games: at Bishop Feehan on Friday, September 5, at 7 p.m. and Bedford on Friday, September 12, at 6:30 p.m. for its second contest. Their first home game is Friday, September 19, at 6 p.m. against Sharon. The team will have a bye for the week of September 26 followed by an away game against Milford on October 2 at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs will face rival Stoughton twice this season — at home on October 10 at 7 p.m. and again on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, at SHS at 10 a.m. Canton will travel to Foxboro on October 17 at 7 p.m. and will host Oliver Ames October 24 at 7 p.m. Thereafter, the schedule will be determined by the MIAA based on playoff eligibility and record.

Bohane also announced the preseason schedule. The first day of practice is Monday, August 18, at 7 a.m. and the first scrimmage is Saturday, August 23, at Millis at 10 a.m. Canton will also host a scrimmage against Dedham August 26 at 3:30 p.m.

Bohane also decided to host an inter-squad “Green versus White” game in memory of the Cravens family, tentatively set for Friday, August 29, at 6 p.m. Bohane said the team has an active participation in the summer 7 vs. 7 Passing League and has already won a few games.
