Despite losing to Foxboro last week, the CHS golf team evened its record to 2-2 with a key victory over rival Oliver Ames, a usual contender for the Davenport Division title.

The Bulldogs, a bit unfamiliar with the challenging Foxboro course, were defeated 161-177. Canton’s top performers on the par-36 course were JC Marcone, Gavin Monagle, and Rich Nee, all with 44s, and Brian Brooks with a 45.

Returning to the comfortable confines of the Blue Hill Country Club the next day, the Bulldogs defeated OA 158-164, achieving the team’s lowest score to date at BHCC. Canton was led by Marcone and Sam Riemer, who both finished with a 39 on the par-35 course. Nee followed with a 40 and Sam Hrubec shot a 41.

The first junior varsity match of the season was also held last week, with Canton prevailing 173-179. Sophomore Luke Thompason had the lowest score for the Bulldogs with a 43, followed by junior Jon Oslin at 44, junior Sage Lee at 46, and freshman Sterphen Gorham with a 52.

Canton was due to face two new Hockomock League opponents this week: Milford on Monday at the Hopedale Country Club and Taunton on Thursday at home. Next week, the Bulldogs will travel to North Attleboro on October 1 and will host Foxboro on October 3.
