Murphy, Carol
By Canton CitizenCarol (Coveney) Murphy, 80, of Canton, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026.
Born on September 28, 1946, Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Coveney and Rose (Tronti) Coveney. Throughout her life, her absolute favorite place to be was the family beach house on Cape Cod. She spent decades visiting the Cape, finding her greatest comfort and peace just sitting in the sun on the beach for hours at a time. Because of her deep love for the coast, her children grew up spending their summers by the ocean, creating a cherished family tradition and a lasting appreciation for the beach that stays with them today.
Beyond her love for the ocean, Carol was an avid and passionate sports fan. She loved cheering on the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She also enjoyed watching golf, following the game with enthusiasm and appreciation, especially when Bryson DeChambeau was playing.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband, James Murphy. She leaves behind her loving children: Lauren Beech and her husband, Jeremy, of Plymouth; Erin Murphy of McCalla, AL; and Brian Murphy and his wife, Allyson, of Canton. She was the proud grandmother of Lily Clive, Jake Clive, Gwen Beech, and Olivia Studyvin. She is also survived by her dedicated family friend and caregiver, Kathy Kirby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, October 13, at 11 a.m. at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Canton.
