Vote Beckham for Select Board
By GuestDear Editor:
I am writing to enthusiastically endorse Julie Beckham for the Select Board in the upcoming town election. I have known Julie since she was a student at Canton High School, where I worked with her during a musical production. Since that time, our paths have crossed many times in meaningful ways.
While serving as interim executive director of Riverside Theatre Works, Julie taught my daughter. Later, when her children began attending Hansen School, we reconnected once again. During her time at Hansen, Julie was an active member of the school’s CAPT for eight years and served on the board as co-programs coordinator for three years. She also contributed to the Fifth Grade Flashback, served as a room parent, and helped organize the holiday shop and carnival fundraisers. In addition, she assisted with the fourth-grade circus, helped fundraise for the new playground, started the Walking School Bus, and volunteered during lunchtime.
On a personal note, Julie generously volunteered in my classroom, supporting small-group activities, coordinating holiday crafts and celebrations, and assisting in numerous aspects of the Hansen fifth-grade play. I also had the pleasure of seeing her educational “Ms. Money” program when she brought it to the schools. The Hansen was certainly not the only school to benefit from Julie’s dedication.
As her children progressed through the Canton Public Schools, Julie’s commitment and dedication continued. She remained active with the Galvin CAPT, served as vice president of the Canton Alliance for Public Education, supported the Spelling Bee fundraiser, and was a dedicated supporter of MusicCounts. At Canton High School, she served on the School Council for two years, volunteered for school plays, and was the volleyball team parent for three years, organizing and managing the game-day snack table and handling all related finances.
Julie’s devotion to our town extends well beyond the schools. She is a member of the Canton Cultural Council and serves as vice chair of Canton’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, among her many contributions. She would be a wonderful addition to the Select Board, and I strongly encourage readers to support her candidacy.
Sincerely,
Patty Willis
