Milewski, Anthony J.

Anthony J. (Tony) Milewski Jr., 70, of Canton, formerly of Millis and Dedham, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026.

He was born in Boston, the loving son of Anthony and Alvina (Vito) Milewski. The family later moved to Dedham, where Tony attended Dedham Public Schools and graduated from Dedham High School, excelling academically and starring on the varsity baseball and basketball teams.

Tony went on to study at Northeastern University before building a long and successful career in the supermarket industry. He worked his way up from service clerk to store manager at Purity Supreme, serving in locations in Weymouth, South Boston, Brookline, Roslindale, Braintree, Acton, and others. For nearly 20 years, he was a franchise owner of White Hen Pantry in Needham, later becoming the sole owner of Chestnut Street Pantry until 2007. He then continued his career with BJ’s, Roche Bros., and ultimately Star Market, where he worked until suffering a debilitating stroke.

Tony was hardworking, strong-willed, and deeply devoted to his family. He especially loved being involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s sports, coaching his kids in baseball, basketball, and soccer for many years. He took great pride in teaching skills, celebrating every effort and achievement — win or lose — though he himself loved competition. He was also a lifelong fan of Boston and New England sports teams.

He was a passionate supporter of the performing arts, particularly dance and music, which played a central role in the lives of his younger children throughout their school years.

Tony leaves behind his beloved wife of 31 years, Andrea (Bell), his brother John, and his children Jay Milewski, Eric Milewski, Callie Antonelli and her husband, Andrew Swenson, Alexander Milewski and his partner, Brenna Donahue, and Shannon Schoech and her husband, Brian, as well as his stepson, Christopher Bell. He was a devoted Grampa to his cherished grandchildren Kade, Isabella, Aria, Benjamin, Brighton, Bennett, Jenna, Maggie, Hazel, Arthur and Zelda, all of whom he adored and gave his full attention to whenever they were with him. He truly was a kid at heart.

He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially Donna DePari, with whom he grew up and shared a lifelong friendship. He will be deeply missed by his co-workers and customers at Star Market in West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony’s memory to the American Stroke Association or the American Diabetes Association.

A funeral service was held Friday, January 16, at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
