New Welcome Gateway completed at Revere site

By

As you approach the historic yellow barn at the Paul Revere Heritage Site, you’ll be greeted by a stunning new Welcome Gateway — a vibrant space designed to invite, inspire and connect.

Victor Del Vecchio, president of the Revere & Son Heritage Trust, and Rep. Bill Galvin display a replica of a new highway sign promoting the soon-to-be completed Revere museum while standing in front of the newly installed gateway that introduces the museum to visitors.

Situated at the end of a freshly laid brick path, the gateway serves as an inviting space for conversation and reflection in front of the yellow barn, which will soon house the Paul Revere Museum of Discovery and Innovation (MoDI). This thoughtfully designed feature is sure to spark curiosity and draw you into the exciting world of MoDI.

Opening this fall, MoDI will transport visitors into the era after the American Revolution — showcasing how innovation drives progress, education empowers individuals, and collaboration fuels transformative change. Through hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM), the museum will celebrate the diverse pioneers who shaped America’s economy and ignite curiosity in those to come.

The Welcome Gateway itself is a striking architectural statement. A circular granite pad, partially enclosed by a gracefully curved “Corten” (weatherizing) steel wall, forms its centerpiece. The copper-powdered cutouts of tools used by Paul Revere in his metalsmithing work are displayed on the wall, while a historic bronze bell — cast in 1855 by one of Revere’s apprentices — stands proudly at the center. Granite-topped benches surrounding the space offer visitors a place to unwind and ponder the role of innovation across the generations.

This gateway marks the first phase of MoDI’s development, with more to come — including dynamic programs for all ages, hands-on internships, and expanded regional outreach.

Be a part of this unique journey. Support the museum by joining MoDI’s Brick Campaign. Personalized engraved bricks — installed in the neighboring path — are available in two sizes: 4”x8” for $75 and 8”x8” for $150.
