O’Halloran announces write-in candidacy for School Committee

I am honored and humbled to announce my candidacy for School Committee on June 16, 2020 (or before that date by mail-in ballot).

I am a write-in candidate, so — although my name doesn’t appear on the ballot — I greatly appreciate anyone writing it in and filling in the corresponding oval to the right of my name.

I am a proud resident of Canton for the past 12-plus years, and although raised very locally, I can’t imagine a town better than Canton in which to live. My bureau drawers full of Canton gear proves so.

My daughter and son are 11 and 8 years old, respectively, and my husband, Steve, and I are also proud parents to dog Lola.

For many years my husband and I have been very involved with coaching and board membership for such Canton youth league sports as baseball, softball, soccer and basketball. Before then I also was often at the dance studio and MSGA gym with my daughter. You have probably heard us cheering on the sidelines of a baseball, basketball, softball, lacrosse or soccer game (one of many, many times).

I’m also at the JFK School throughout the year helping in the classrooms, with special events, and with CAPT (side note: I hope you had a chance to see the fifth grade play this year, Shrek; it was amazing!). We’re also currently working on adapting the fifth grade end-of-year events due to the pandemic.

Before my children’s elementary school years, you may have seen me at Canton Moms Club events, Gymboree (in town), or out and about at Canton’s playgrounds and town events.

We embrace Canton.

My focuses are to represent the children, school parents, teachers, and citizens of Canton, and to make sure your voices are always heard and reflected in School Committee agenda items and actions.

I want the children’s lives, teachers’ lives, and our lives, as parents, bettered.

The School Committee and leadership in town have amazing infrastructure and ideas in place and in action. I believe the dissemination of these plans, actions, and ideas to and from the general public can be improved — based on my own experiences at School Committee meetings and as a JFK Elementary parent. It is my hope to be an integral piece in improving the lines of communication — both ways — to strongly encourage town feedback, comment, and involvement, and to make information readily and easily available to the citizens of Canton.

I want to be sure your voices are always heard and reflected in School Committee agenda items and actions.

My career and background are in advertising, sales, and state (as well as city governments) relations. I strongly believe my skills in all three of these would be an asset to the current mix of skilled, caring, and highly intelligent people on the School Committee.

Please remember that — due to this late date — I am not shown on the ballot, but am a write-in candidate for one of the two School Committee openings.

I very much appreciate your consideration and hopeful support.

Please let me serve the children, parents, teachers, and citizens of Canton, and be a different voice.

Proud Cantonian,

Kendall O’Halloran
