Girls’ soccer stays hot with 3 more easy wins

It was a study in contrasts last week as the red-hot CHS girls’ soccer team did battle with three of the Hockomock’s cellar dwellers, winning all three contests by a combined score of 15-1.

Head coach Paul Turner described all three as comfortable wins, and that was especially true in home games against Stoughton (5-0) and Taunton (7-0). The third game, played at King Philip on a grass field on Friday, proved to be a bit more challenging, although Sam Sullivan’s second half goal ended the Warriors’ threat as the Bulldogs went on to win 3-1.

Of the team’s 15 goals last week, ten came off the foot of senior captain Lauren Berman, who continues to stymie her opponents while getting great support from the talent around her, including fellow senior captains Meg Lennon and Brianna Duserick.

Lennon, a talented scorer in her own right, chipped in two against Stoughton and one against Taunton, while junior midfielder Kim McNally rounded out the scoring with a goal in the Taunton game.

The Bulldogs are now 8-1-1 and in first place in the Davenport Division. They demolished the second-place team, Oliver Ames, by seven goals on OA’s home field, and their only loss came against undefeated Franklin nearly a month ago. The team is currently riding a six-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents by a combined total of 33-3 during that stretch.

This week, the Bulldogs were due to host Mansfield on Wednesday, followed by an away game tomorrow afternoon against Milford, which battled Canton to a 1-1 draw in their first meeting back on September 14.
