Powers, Gerald H.

Gerald H. “Jerry” Powers, 78, of Canton, passed away April 27 at home.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and attended Boston Latin High School and Newman Prep. He went on to graduate from Boston College, Class of 1964, and earned his MBA from Northeastern University. He worked as a securities broker for Cantella & Co. in Boston and later for Delta Equity Securities Corp. in Bolton before retiring in 2008. He was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton and the Boston Securities Traders Association.

Beloved husband of Arlen M. (Hennessey). Father of Gerald Powers and his wife, Kathleen, of Walpole, Timothy Powers and his wife, Anastasia, of Marshfield, and Patricia Powers of Walpole. Grandfather of Ariel, Sasha, Tyler, and Crosby Powers. Brother of the late Thomas Powers Jr. and Louise Owen. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was held Monday in St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canton. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Veteran United States Army. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veterans Services Department, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
