By Canton CitizenSusan Burke, 63, a resident of Canton and Monument Beach, passed away on December 4 after a courageous battle with cancer. Susan was the beloved wife of Special Agent (ret.) James C. Burke and loving mother of Meghan (Burke) Curtin and mother-in-law to Christopher Curtin.
Born in New Mexico, Susan was raised in Texarkana, TX. She attended Texas High School & East Texas State University, majoring in music performance. While in college, she met her husband and they settled in Canton, where Susan became a successful real estate agent. As a realtor, Susan’s reputation generated professional respect and success.
Susan was the daughter of Gene and Janice Moss, and loving sister to her brothers, Paul, William and Michael Moss (deceased) and her sister Kate (Moss) Hurst. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and a strong network of friends who helped carry her spirits during Susan’s lengthy illness. Throughout Susan’s life, her ultimate pride and joy was in raising her daughter Meghan, and being the doting “Gam” to her two granddaughters, Maeve Elise Curtin and Amelia James Curtin.
A memorial service was held Monday, December 9, at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home in West Falmouth.
