Keelan, David V.
By Canton CitizenDavid Vincent Keelan Sr., 93, a longtime resident of Canton, passed away on April 28, 2026.
Dave was born in Boston and raised in Dedham. He grew up working in his father’s hardware store and spent his summers at the family cottage in Scituate. He graduated from Saint Sebastian’s School and Boston College, where he played football for the Eagles all four years. While at BC, he was in the U.S. Marine Corps PLC program with summer training at Quantico, Virginia. He served as a first lieutenant in Iwakuni, Japan, and in Korea.
Dave married his wife of 70 years, Marjorie McCarty, on New Year’s Eve in 1955. They moved to Canton in 1960 where they raised their five children. He had a career he loved as a computer systems sales manager with offices in several states.
After retirement, he and Marge traveled extensively throughout the entire United States and many countries around the world. In later years they spent summers in Harwich Port. Dave was an avid golfer, oil painter, and BC football fan.
Dave was a devoted husband and father who will be dearly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, his daughter Michelle Chilton and her husband, Tom, of Charlottesville, VA, and sons Douglas and his wife, Beth, of Burlington, William of Philadelphia, PA, and Patrick of Phoenix, AZ. He was predeceased by his son David V. Keelan Jr. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.
