Eleanor Barrile (nee Pergola), 96, passed away peacefully in her Canton home on March 5, 2026.

Born on May 9, 1929, and raised in Pietraperzia, Sicily, Eleanore immigrated to the United States in 1947. She was a persistent woman with a relentless work ethic. An exceptional seamstress with an innovative mindset, Eleanor built a career for herself in fine tailoring and window treatments. She was also known for designing elegantly detailed clothes, coats, purses, drapes, and home furnishings for friends and family.

Married to Michael Barrile in 1956, they had three devoted sons: Joseph, Henry, and Marco. In 1970, the family relocated to Canton. After becoming a single mother, Eleanor devoted her life to raising thoughtful, hardworking, and caring sons.

Eleanor is preceded by her sister Mary Barrile (nee Pergola) and brothers Frank and Michael Pergola. Eleanor is survived by her sister Elvira Signorino of West Bridgewater, sister-in-law Venezia Pergola (nee LaMonica) of Hyde Park, sons Joseph Barrile and his wife, Karin Picarski, of Canton, Henry Barrile of Brooksville, FL, Marco Barrile and his wife, Roberta Calvagne-Barrile, of West Bridgewater, and her much beloved grandchildren, Ashlee and Anthony Barrile, as well as the plentiful loving nieces and nephews who she treated and loved as her own.

She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, on Thursday (today) from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, March 13, at 10 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Church in Canton. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery.
