Berardi, Joseph D.
By Canton CitizenJoseph D. Berardi, 90, of Canton, passed away February 14 at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury.
Born and raised in Canton, he was a lifelong resident of the town. He graduated from Canton High School in 1955 where he was a star player on the football team. After graduation he went on to serve in the United States Army. Joe was a member of the Canton Fire Department for 30 years before retiring in 2000.
He was a member of the Canton Town Club for many years. He loved spending his summers in Dennis, where he enjoyed fishing, crabbing and shell fishing.
Beloved husband of Mary L. Berardi (Murphy). Father of Joseph D. Berardi Jr. and his wife, Jill, of Hingham, Chris J. Berardi and his wife, Kelly, of Orleans, and Sean M. Berardi and his wife, Andrea, of Canton. Brother of Edward Berardi and his wife, Donna, of Canton, Ann Kirk and her husband, Tom, of AZ, and the late Dan Berardi, Frank Berardi, Gino Berardi, Gilda Colp, Richard Berardi, and Robert Berardi. Grandfather of Ava, Andrew, Ben, Ryan, Joey, Micky, Lucia, and Carina. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Thursday (today) from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass Friday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Church. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
