Rosetta’s celebrates Marine Corps’ 250th birthday

By

On Monday, November 10, Rosetta’s Italian Family Restaurant in Canton celebrated the United States Marine Corps’ 250th birthday.

In keeping with tradition, the oldest Marine present, retired Gunnery Sgt. Gerry Florentine (1945), and the youngest Marine, PFC Mike Mullen, were recognized and presented the first two pieces of cake. Mullen, a 2024 Canton High graduate, is a lifelong Canton resident and a second-generation Marine, enlisting in the USMC this past May.

This marks the 11th year that Rosetta’s has hosted the Marine Corps birthday event. Semper Fidelis. Pictured at right are (l-r) Guest of honor Major Todd Opalski (ret.), GySgt. Gerry Florentine (ret.), PFC Michael Mullen, and 1st Sgt. Carlo Gaita (ret.), proprietor of Rosetta’s restaurant.
