Lund, Warner E.

By

Warner E. Lund, Jr. of Canton passed away on July 26, 2025, at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury.

Born in Gloucester and raised in Beverly, Warner was a graduate of Beverly High School. He played football for Beverly High and even years later enjoyed attending the Beverly-Salem game on Thanksgiving when possible. He attended Tufts University after high school and then the University of Pennsylvania Dental School, where he met his wife, Barbara, and they married in 1965.

Warner had entered the Navy after college via the ROTC program and served during the Vietnam Era, though he remained in the Dental Reserves for many years and his rank at the time of his retirement was captain. Professionally, Warner was the chief of dentistry within the Veterans Administration Health System, most recently in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he was prior to retirement. He also spent many years at Jamaica Plain as well. He enjoyed teaching and was an educator at Harvard University Dental School.

In 1977, Warner moved with his wife and daughter to Canton, a community he would call home for many years. Warner also cherished the time spent at his house in Bedford, NH, which became a haven during his tenure at the end of his career at the Manchester VA. Most important to Warner, though, was his family, and he was very devoted to his daughter, Julie, and wife, Barbara.

Warner’s passion for the New York Giants was well-known among his friends and family. He was a loyal fan with season tickets to the Meadowlands for many years and enjoyed attending training camp and being part of the Giants fan club.

Warner is loved dearly by his family and is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Lund (Vrabel), and daughter, Julie A. Lund, of Canton. Warner is also survived by his brother Myles J. Lund and his wife, Cornelia, of Palm Coast, FL, and his sister Elizabeth A. Lund, also of Palm Coast, FL, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/nephews. Warner is predeceased by his parents, Warner E. Lund, Sr. and Margaret M. Lund (McEachern).

A funeral Mass was held Saturday, August 2, in St. Oscar Romero Church in Canton Saturday. Visiting hours were held prior to the Mass at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street. Burial at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
