Canton Public Schools has hired Tami Rebello as the new principal of the Hansen Elementary School.
Rebello joins the district from the Norfolk Public Schools, where she has served as the principal of the H. Olive Day School since July 2023. She will be replacing Paul McKnight, who resigned in June after two years as Hansen principal.
A 1998 graduate of Salve Regina University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education, Rebello went on to obtain a master’s in instructional technology from Bridgewater State in 2006.
“We are pleased to welcome Ms. Rebello to Canton Public Schools,” said Superintendent Derek Folan. “She is a veteran administrator and a longtime educator. She is coming to Canton with valuable leadership experience and a strong understanding of special education. Our Hansen students, families and staff have great things to look forward to under her leadership.”
Rebello began her career in the Taunton Public Schools as a special education teacher in 2000. She was promoted to assistant principal at Taunton’s Elizabeth Pole School in 2016 prior to being named principal in her current position in Norfolk.
“I’m truly honored to join this incredible district and excited to begin building strong partnerships with our students, families, and staff,” said Rebello. “Together, we’ll continue to grow a joyful, inclusive, and empowering learning environment where every child can thrive.”
