Ponkapoag Camp: Unique nature experience right in your backyard
By GuestImagine spending the morning hiking through the woods in the 7,000-acre DCR Blue Hills Reservation, having lunch in the cool shade of large, mature pine trees, and then coming back to kayak on beautiful, unspoiled 230-acre Ponkapoag Pond. Then you sit back and take in the unforgettable sunset across the pond. With both cabins and tent sites, you can choose your sleeping accommodations.
Ponkapoag Camp is managed under the umbrella of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). It is purposefully rustic and purposely affordable. All of the camp’s guests are immersed in nature and it is all amazingly close to home — in the Blue Hills on the border of Canton and Randolph. It is a great experience for couples, families, and small groups of friends.
Despite the fact that people have been camping at the site for over 100 years, it is unknown to most people in the surrounding towns. AMC Ponkapoag is run by a committee whose members volunteers their passion, time and energy to ensure the adventures made possible by the camp continue for generations to come.
Camp registration can be found at ponkapoagcamp.org/camping, but you can call the camp manager at 781-961-7007 and let her know you are interested in camping at Ponkapoag. We look forward to meeting you at AMC Ponkapoag!
