SB candidate David Clough has walked the walk

I write to support my friend David Clough for Select Board. David has built a reputation in Canton as someone who studies the details, asks difficult questions, and works to protect residential taxpayers while keeping town government fair and accountable.
During his time on the Finance Committee, David raised concerns when spending proposals lacked clear financial support. He questioned projects that required large withdrawals from town reserves and opposed tax agreements that gave large corporations advantages with limited benefit to residents.
David has also spoken about fairness in property assessments. In a public analysis, he highlighted commercial properties that sold for far higher prices than their assessed values. One property sold for $50 million yet is assessed near $20 million. Another sold for $37.9 million yet is assessed near $24.8 million. These gaps raise important questions about equitable treatment in the tax system.
David distinguished himself by fulfilling his civic duty, supporting an independent audit of the Canton Police Department when others would not. He ensured the most qualified auditor was selected through a fair and independent review of the procurement process. He did this knowing that a portion of the community would ostracize him for simply taking on the role and judge him not on the results but based on their bias toward the audit.
Beyond Town Hall, David and his wife have volunteered as site leaders for the Canton Clean-Up for five consecutive years. David is the only current Select Board candidate to have volunteered for this community event to date. He’s also the only candidate, in my 20 years in Canton, who has outlined a defined platform (available for your review at davidclough.com/platform).
I encourage Canton residents to review David Clough’s record of civic contributions and his platform for a better Canton when voting for Select Board this April.
