Police charge 3 with malicious property destruction
By Jay TurnerIn a span of just two days last week, Canton Police charged three individuals with malicious destruction of property in separate and unrelated incidents.
The first incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, March 5, in the parking lot of Norfolk County Probate Court on Shawmut Road and involved a dispute between parties that started as a verbal altercation and eventually turned physical. One female was charged for allegedly assaulting two other women and for damaging the women’s personal property. No injuries were reported.
Later that same day, a Canton resident was charged with property destruction following a dispute between a homeowner and a contractor over payment. Deputy Police Chief Patty Sherrill said the homeowner felt that the contractor damaged part of their windowpane on purpose.
The following morning, a Canton man was allegedly observed firing an air-rifle at a telephone pole, causing minor damage. The 32-year-old suspect was charged with destruction of property and discharging a BB gun/air rifle on a public way.
