Canton’s Northern Spy presents ‘Mass. 250’ dinner & talk series

When we first toured the Revere Heritage Site in January of 2018, it was a shell of a space, with dirt floors and barn swallows nesting in the rafters. As we explored building it into a restaurant and space for the community of Canton and surrounding towns to gather, we always had a mission of connecting the food and beverage that we provided to the history of the location and aligning it with the future educational programming of the Revere Heritage Site and the Museum of Discovery & Innovation (MoDI).

In honor of America’s 250th birthday, as well as our fifth year of operation we are proud to launch a new series of lectures and dinners, bringing historical scholarship to Copper Mill Hall in collaboration with some of the areas most accomplished food historians and artisans. Mass250 Culinary Chronicles of New England Series will tell unique stories of our shared New England foodways, as well as allow guests to sit down for a meal inspired by our region’s culinary past, present and future.

The next dinner in the series will take place on March 26 and will feature historian Matthew Duncan Smith, also known as the 18th Century Cook. Entitled “Food of the Common Man,” the evening will explore the everyday meals and ingredients that shaped colonial life, brought to life through both scholarship and a thoughtfully curated menu.

Information about upcoming speakers and tickets can be found at our website, northernspycanton.com.
