Murphy offers more ‘holistic’ approach for Canton
By GuestDear Editor:
Canton does many things well, and we have dedicated people working hard on behalf of the town. At the same time, through my committee work and regular participation in Select Board meetings, I have observed a recurring theme: major projects are often evaluated one at a time rather than as part of a larger picture — what planners sometimes call a siloed approach.
Schools, roads, public safety facilities, and town-owned land all affect each other financially and operationally. Decisions in one area inevitably shape outcomes in another and can lead to missed opportunities and unnecessary costs if evaluated in isolation.
This is why I have decided to run for a seat on Canton’s Select Board. It is also why I have developed what I call the Canton Nexus — a practical framework for evaluating major town decisions together, holistically, so that when we decide which projects to pursue, we do it thoughtfully, efficiently, and with long-term impact in mind.
I will be sharing this approach in stages throughout my campaign, beginning with why it matters and where it applies. Additional information about me and my campaign can be found at gregmurphyforcanton.com.
Respectfully,
Greg Murphy
