Revere Site holds soft opening for 2 new dog parks
By Mike BergerTown Administrator Charles Doody reported that the two new dog parks at the Paul Revere Heritage Site recently had their soft openings. Located on the Neponset Street side of the site, both parks are fully fenced in and are outfitted with benches, dog waste stations, and play equipment. To obtain a key fob to gain entry to the parks, contact the Friends of the Canton Dog Park at cantondogpark.com.
New town parking lot to open soon
Town Administrator Charles Doody said the new municipal parking lot on Neponset Street is nearing an opening. The lone remaining item on the to-do list is installation of signage, and Doody said he expects to announce an opening date at the October 21 Select Board meeting.
ATF office no longer at police station
After previously hosting an office of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) at the police station through a memorandum of understanding, Interim Canton Police Chief Joseph Perkins said the town withdrew from the agreement several months ago. The previous arrangement had come to light due to the involvement of ATF agent Brian Higgins as a key witness in the Karen Read murder trial. While there are currently no federal agents working out of CPD headquarters, Perkins said both the town and the Police Department “value the ongoing partnership and cooperation with the ATF and other federal agencies on multi-jurisdictional matters …
