Sheriff Patrick McDermott and the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the sheriff’s HOPE Center and Wey of Life Peer Recovery Center, are excited to announce that rising local music star Justin Clancy will headline the Norfolk County Recovery Fest on Saturday, September 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Braintree.
Clancy, who just released a popular new album and packed a show at the Brighton Music Hall, will take the stage during the free music fest at the Public Safety Complex, located at 2015 Washington Street in Braintree.
“September is Recovery Month, and we are excited to feature artists like Justin Clancy who are thriving in their careers while advocating, supporting and celebrating the recovery community,” said Sheriff McDermott. “We are proud to be part of a fun, family-friendly day of music and hope that is open to all.”
Recovery Fest is free and features several local musical acts, including Christian Champagne and the Kind Souls, and The Glow. Boston comedy legend Steve Sweeney will also take the stage. The event’s emcee is Mathematics, an inspirational recovery coach, consultant, group specialist, public speaker and poet whose own personal journey serves as an example of how hope and change can lead to a brighter future.
Recovery Fest will feature dozens of vendors who are actively involved in the local recovery community.
Attendees ages 10 and older will have access to the sheriff’s exciting zip line, and there will be games for all, including miniature golf, and complimentary food from the sheriff’s Tactical Picnic Unit.
An annual cornhole tournament organized by Massachusetts Young People in Recovery will be held on the day of the festival. The tournament will start at noon and will include prizes. Competitors may register up until 11:45 a.m. that Saturday.
The Norfolk Recovery Fest builds off the success of the NCSO’s HOPE Center in Braintree, which opened in April 2024 as a resource for formerly incarcerated individuals and members of the public who might need assistance, such as employment, substance use support, or access to housing and health insurance. The HOPE Center served 128 clients in 2024, including 86 justice-involved individuals and 42 community clients, and is looking to expand the reach of its services and support.
