Public Meeting: Ward Well Master Plan

The Canton Conservation Department invites the public to an upcoming community meeting on the Ward Well Master Plan project, with a virtual session scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and an in-person session on Thursday, July 31, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Canton Public Library.
Both the virtual and in-person sessions will cover the same material and will be a chance for the Conservation Department and consultants from the Horsley Witten Group to present the status of the Ward Well Master Plan, share draft trail plans and land management recommendations, and to gather feedback from the public.
Coffee, seltzers, and snacks will be provided at the in-person meeting. An online survey will also be posted at town.canton.ma.us/749/Ward-Well-Conservation-Area at the end of July to get additional feedback.
The goal of the project is to do an analysis of the Ward Well Conservation Area — a 141-acre public property located partly in Canton and partly in Stoughton that has been set aside for conservation uses — and to gather public input for future improvements/enhancements. Once it is completed, the Conservation Department will then seek funding to implement various aspects of the plan.
Several ideas have been suggested so far, including trail and signage improvements; interpretive signage for historical and environmental education; a StoryWalk; boundary markers to reduce/deter encroachment; and town line markers to facilitate enforcement of laws and rules.
