Despite the convincing defeat, head coach Myra Durham said the Bulldogs had much to be proud of this season, as they recorded a six-win improvement over 2024 to punch their ticket to the state playoffs for the first time in five years.

“We were very happy with what we were able to accomplish this year,” said Durham. “Not only did we make it to the playoffs and get past the first round, but every player made tremendous progress throughout the season.”

Durham said NDA proved to be a very formidable opponent, winning all five matches in straight sets to improve to 17-2 on the season. They also went on to beat No. 6 Westborough 5-0 and were due to face No. 2 Wayland yesterday in the D2 state semifinals.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, finish their season with an overall record of 11-8, marking just the second time in the last decade that they reached double-digit victories in a season.

A big key to their success was the emergence of freshman Karina Solodova, who won 10 of her 12 matches after seizing the No. 1 singles position. Also reaching the 10-win mark were senior singles player Camilla Cutter (11-7) and doubles players Jess Hooton (11-7), Katherine Powers (10-7) and Lydia Sithivong (10-9).
