Canton Fire Dept. responds to fatal highway crash
By Mike BergerCanton firefighters and paramedics joined emergency responders from several other local communities in responding to a five-car accident on Interstate 93 earlier this week that claimed the life of an unidentified Weymouth man.
The accident occurred on I-93 South prior to the I-95 interchange at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Monday, December 9. Canton responders were notified by the Mass. State Police, who requested additional resources after successfully extricating one trapped victim. Westwood, Norwood, and Randolph sent ambulances to the scene and the CFD Field Transfusion Unit was also dispatched.
Canton firefighters and paramedics transported a 55-year-old Weymouth man to Good Samaritan Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Another four accident victims were transported to local hospitals with various injuries.
The highway remained closed for several hours while State Police investigated the accident. Canton firefighters remained on scene to contain fluids spilled from the vehicle and clear the roadway of debris.
Warrant opens today for ATM 2025
The warrant for Canton’s 2025 Annual Town Meeting will officially open today, December 12, for the submission of all zoning and non-zoning articles and is scheduled to close at noon on Friday, January 3. Town meeting will commence on Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the Canton High School auditorium. Citizen-sponsored articles must first be first presented to the Town Clerk’s office for signature verification before being delivered to the Select Board’s office at Canton Town Hall.
CPD toy drive continues through Dec. 17
The donation boxes are starting to fill up for the Canton Police Department’s annual Toys for Tots drive, which runs through Tuesday, December 17. Residents are encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys in the lobby of the police station to benefit families in need during the holidays …
