Over 200 runners and walkers recently took part in the second annual Champions of Wellness 5K Road Race, which starts and ends on the grounds of Canton High School. The event, sponsored by the CHS Student Wellness Advisory Group, was created last year to raise money and awareness for student mental health and helps pay for special mental health education programming for students.

Proceeds also go to fund scholarships for graduating seniors.

“Last year we were able to award $500 scholarships to three incredibly deserving students who displayed tremendous overall wellness for themselves and others during their four years at Canton High School,” said Adam Hughes, Canton Public Schools’ preK-12 wellness coordinator. “We are very grateful for the support of our administration, school community and the greater Canton community to make this event as incredible as it has been in the first two years. We look and hope to continue this event in the future to further support the overall wellness of the students in Canton.”

Event sponsors included the KyleCares Foundation, this year’s keynote sponsor and race starter, along with Annie’s Threads, Bank of Canton, the Canton Alliance Against Substance Abuse (CAASA), CF McCarthy’s, Dedham Savings Bank, Donahue Real Estate, Dunkin Donuts, M&M Driving School, Mayer Real Estate, Raising Cane’s, and Trillium Brewery.
