Joann (Flanagan) Miller, 85, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on April 5, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 24, 1938, in Taunton, MA. She was the daughter of the late Walter W. Black and Edna K. Guilford Black. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Charles “Bud” Miller, and her brothers Walter W. Black, Howard G. Black and Alan C. Black.

Joann had a creative gift in the arts and crafts, landscaping, and floral arranging. She was the kindest woman who loved spending time with family and friends. Joann especially loved her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joann was a beautiful, graceful, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Joann is survived by her two sons, William Flanagan and his wife, Colleen, and Robert Flanagan and his fiancée, Suzanne Reilly; five grandchildren, Christina Strong, Alyssa Colligan and her husband, Joe, Erin Heintz and her husband, Tony, Stephen Flanagan and his wife, Sarah, and Ryan Flanagan and his wife, Christina; eight great-grandchildren, Hailey, Keagan, McKinley, William, Evelyn, Trenton, Logan and Rowan; and two great-grandchildren yet to be born.

Joann’s family will carry on her virtues by displaying strength, determination, heroic disposition, kindness, and love towards all.

The family would like to thank all the nursing and ancillary staff, along with the administrative staff at the Norwich Springs Health Campus for their kind and compassionate care of Joann for over two years. The family also wants to thank Capital City Hospice for providing the most loving and beautiful care of Joann as she journeyed home.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, at the Refinery Church in Columbus, Ohio. The family will receive family and friends from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 29, at the Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be mailed to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr., Suite 170, Columbus, OH 43231.
