Oliver leaps to new PR at Coaches Invitational
By Mike BergerSenior track and field standout Katie Oliver took second overall in the long jump and several of her Bulldog teammates posted state-qualifying and personal-best marks in a strong showing for the CHS indoor track team at Sunday’s MSTCA Small School Coaches Invitational held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.
Oliver’s jump of 17 feet, two and half inches was a season high for her and ranks 15th best in the state since the start of the winter season.
Other top performers for the Bulldogs included Chloe Dubuisson and Lianna Camille, who placed 12th and 15th, respectively, in the 300 meters with times of 42.89 and 43:07 seconds. Both marks were personal bests and moved Dubuisson and Camille into second and third all-time on the program leaderboard in that event.
Also setting personal records and punching their tickets to states were Nora Giannacopoulos, who topped her previous best time in the 1,000m by five seconds (3:19.88) and placed 16th overall, and Lexi Piazza, who took 18th in the 600m with a new best time of 1:47.07.
Sally Hoban came close to a PR in the shot put and also competed in the 4×400 relay along with Piazza, Lily Duong and Maggie McCready.
On the boys’ side, Dan Krasylnykov ran a season-best and qualified for states in the 300m (37.93), and Parker Allen came close to setting a new personal best in the 600m. Krasylnykov and Allen also helped the boys 4×400 relay record a new season-best time along with Mo Arugollu and Riley Swearingen (3:45.99).
Both teams are now preparing for the Hockomock League Championship Meet on Thursday, February 8, at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
