Town of Canton forms Anti-Scam Task Force

In an effort to prevent Canton residents from becoming victims of scams, the town of Canton recently formed the Canton Anti-Scam Task Force.

Headed by Diane Tynan, director of the town’s Department of Elder & Human Services (DEHS), the task force formalizes the already ongoing collaboration between town departments, local banks, and law enforcement. Other members include Gayle Bellotti of the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office; Alex Benjamin of the Canton DEHS; Canton Police Department; Christine Corleto of the Canton Housing Authority; Vicky DiMaria of the Canton DEHS; Louis Jutras, town of Canton information systems manager; Canton Veterans Agent Arafat Knight; Nick Maffeo, president and CEO of Canton Co-operative Bank; and Paul McNiff, vice president of Bank of Canton.

The Canton Anti-Scam Task Force plans to start holding free public education programs in 2024. In the meantime, any Canton resident concerned about being approached by a scammer should reach out to the Department of Elder & Human Services at 781-828-1323 or the Norfolk DA’s Office at 781-830-4800.
