Kelliher, Kristine K.

Kristine Kelliher Valday of West Falmouth, formerly of Canton, died peacefully on October 24, 2023. She lived a full life and cherished her time with her beloved family and friends.

In retirement Kris loved her time at the beach and on the golf course as she split time between Little Island and Pocasset Golf Club in the summers and Naples Beach and Countryside Golf Club in the winters. Kris was an avid reader and took a keen interest in current events; she would eagerly await the arrival of the Sunday New York Times every week. She had a true passion for live music and dancing. Her family will always recall the smile on her face and joy in her heart upon hearing the bagpipes in an Irish pub every St. Patrick’s Day, especially the most recent and final.

Kristine was a devoted wife of 62 years to the late William H. Valday. She was a loving mother to William D. Valday and his wife, Sheila, of Plymouth, Maureen E. Reed and her husband, Duane, of Skillman, NJ, and Kristine V. Dobson and her husband, Dr. David Dobson, of Middleton. Kris was a proud grandmother to Elizabeth Dobson McNamara and her husband, Peter, Katherine Dobson Goldstein and her husband, Max, Captain Elise C. Reed, and Dr. Marina A. Reed. Kris was also an admiring great-grandmother to Margaret and Pierce McNamara. She was also the loving sister of the late Connie (Cornelius) Kelliher and his late wife, Julie, and beloved aunt to Karen Kelliher Anderson and her husband, Dave, the late Julie Ann Kelliher Chandler and her late husband, Richard, Valerie Kelliher, and Neil Kelliher and his wife, Cheryl.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 8, at 11 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Catholic Church, 700 Washington Street in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist School for the Strive for Excellence Fund, 696 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
