SB decision reveals hypocrisy of board members

By

Dear Editor:

I am disappointed to read that the Select Board has suspended its public comment period. I clearly remember during the height of COVID that the townspeople and many elected officials attended the Board of Health meetings and unfortunately spoke disrespectfully and with anger towards those board members when the BOH determined (during an unprecedented pandemic) that face masks should continue a while longer.

As a past member of the Canton School Committee for 16 years, there were many uncomfortable meetings when varying opinions were aired. We allowed the townspeople to voice their concerns; in fact, it was our job to listen to those concerns and take them into consideration.

I find it ironic that the Select Board public comments are being shut down by some of the very people who were angry at the Board of Health during the pandemic and who would not step back and speak respectfully or limit their comments.
