Cunningham’s Kids team up to fight ALS

By

Former students of beloved Hansen teacher Cheryl Cunningham were out in full force on Monday at the inaugural “Cunningham’s Kids RUNdraiser” to benefit Mrs. Cunningham’s husband, Mike, who was recently diagnosed with ALS.

Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS is a rare, progressive neurological condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. A devastating disease without a cure, ALS requires round-the-clock care that is not all covered by insurance.

In addition to walking/running and raising much-needed funds, students also filled a gratitude jar with notes to Mrs. Cunningham explaining how she has touched their lives. Cheryl and Mike Cunningham were also in attendance along with Canton resident and ALS patient Della Larson.
