New comment portal will connect residents with SB members

By

The town will soon be adding a new citizen comment portal to the town website that will allow residents to air concerns or make requests to the Select Board either privately or publicly. The comments will be shared with Select Board members as well as Town Administrator Charles Doody, and someone from the Select Board’s office will reply with an answer.

Doody explained that the portal is “one more way to get in touch with the board.”

Designed by Information Systems Manager Louis Jutras, the portal will be added soon and will be accessible via a link on the town homepage.

In other news from Tuesday night’s meeting:

* The Select Board agreed with Chair Tom Theodore’s motion to adjourn the meeting after two residents exceeded the allotted three minutes during the public comment period and refused to yield the microphone. The board had previously voted to keep the public comment period to 15 minutes with three minutes given to each speaker. Comments during this period concerned the lack of leadership shown by the board as a whole and their unwillingness to answer questions about the Police Department and committee assignments. According to Select Board member Mike Loughran, while the Select Board is not required to send a member to the Canton Alliance Against Substance Abuse (CAASA), it will consider doing so when it formally decides committee assignments.  One audience member asked that board member Chris Albert (not present at Tuesday’s meeting) not be appointed to either the Traffic Committee or CAASA due to his past record.
