Edwin Allen Short, 88, of Canton, died peacefully at home with his family August 9, 2023.

Ed worked as a self-employed Certified Public Accountant, serving many Canton and surrounding families for decades. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He sang in the choir for both St. John the Evangelist and St. Gerard Majella churches in Canton for many years. He was a past Canton Youth Hockey coach, an avid golfer, a Boston Bruins fan, and enjoyed playing the trumpet and listening to Irish and country music.

Son of the late Edwin and Frances Short. Devoted husband to Lois R. Short (Miner). Loving father of David A. Short and his wife, Lyn, of Norwood, Patricia Walsh and her husband, William, of Roslindale, James Edwin Short and his wife, Karen, of South Easton, Gail M. Sullivan and her husband, Joseph, of Hanover, Deborah A. Short of Canton, and Jean M. Gillis and her husband, Christopher, of Canton. Brother of the late Barbara Judge and Dorothea Steeves. He is also the proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday, August 14, in St. Oscar Romero Catholic Church in Canton. Interment Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in Ed’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html, or to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/donate.
