A few thoughts on local leadership

It’s disappointing to learn that the Select Board hasn’t been meeting regularly as police commissioners when they haven’t been meeting as water commissioners either. Who was responsible for ensuring regular, preventative meetings were taking place? Anyway, it may be that it is more practical that independent residents serve as commissioners of police, fire and water to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
On whether there should be term limits for the Select Board, I think what’s really needed is candidates who can inspire the over 10,000 uninterested voters to go to the polls.
