Canton Writes 2023: Scissors

The Canton Citizen, a sponsor of the annual Canton Writes contest, will once again publish the winning entries as space permits. The selection below, by Ilsa Fernsten, was the winning entry in the elementary (K-2) poetry category.

Scissors

Oh poor scissors doing jumping jacks all day

Someone stop that thing, stop it and let it lay

The pointy parts are the legs and the holes are the arms

Open and close

There it goes

The small but mighty scissors
