Town comments on coverage of Karen Read case

By

John Connolly, chair of the Canton Select Board, read the following statement on behalf of the town at the conclusion of Tuesday night’s meeting:

Over the past several days, we have received inquiries concerning new reports related to the ongoing criminal case dealing with the death of John O’Keefe. The investigation into the matter was referred to the Massachusetts State Police shortly after the incident. The town and its employees have cooperated fully in the investigation, it is our understanding that the next court proceeding will take place on May 3, at which time more information may be forthcoming. At this time, it is inappropriate for us to comment on the matter. We reserve all judgement while the judicial process is ongoing. Please understand that there will be no further comment at this time.
