Lavin, Carl D.

Carl D. Lavin, 85, of Canton, passed away April 12.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Cathedral High School and Southwest Texas State University and served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a career counsellor for many years before retiring. Carl also wrote a column known as the “The Barking Dog” in the Canton Citizen for many years. He was active in the Neponset River Watershed Watchdogs for many years and enjoyed genealogy and was a history buff.

Beloved husband of the late Ellen (Alabiso). Father of Carl P. Lavin and his wife, Kerry, of Newton and Khristine Lavin and her spouse, Jessica, of Canton. Grandfather of Damon and Parker Lavin. Brother of Neil Lavin of Bradford, NH, Margaret Miller of OR, and the late Thomas Lavin and Patricia Couming. He is survived by his brother-in-law and best friend, Bernard Couming, of Stoughton.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery.
