Michael Joseph Dockray, Sr., 71, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 with his daughter and grandchildren by his side, after stoically battling cancer.

Mike was affectionately called “Doc” by his many friends. He was a graduate of the first four-year class at Blue Hills Regional Vocational Technical High School in the Auto Body Program. After graduating from Blue Hills he worked passionately for Don and Wally’s Service Center in Norwood for many years.

Mike loved repairing vehicles and was an incredibly talented mechanic. He specialized in fantastic auto body repairs, refinishing, and painting. He loved animals and watching NASCAR. He was a friendly man and enjoyed traveling.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Edward Dockray; his older brother, Edward Dockray, Jr.; and his son, Michael J. Dockray, Jr.

He leaves behind his daughter, Christine Dockray Drew of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother, Stephen Dockray and his wife, Diane; and his grandchildren, Kennedy, Richie, Christopher, and Caroline Drew. He is also survived by his two nieces, Alexandra Dockray and her fiancé, Dana, and Cassandra Fleury and her husband, Paul; three nephews, Stephen Dockray and his wife, Marie Claude, Sean Dockray and his wife, Fiona, and Patrick Dockray.

Thank you to those who have cared, checked in, and supported “Doc” through his final days.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy., Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Crescent Hospice, 1516 US-501 Unit 101, Conway, SC 29526, or All About Animal Rescue and Transport (AAART), 1082 Waccamaw Dr., Conway, SC 29526.
